FOCIS is soon to commence an exciting project rebuilding an old council tipping dray. This old horse-drawn road repairing dray used to be on display alongside the Amess half cellar, but deteriorated and was placed in storage. FOCIS volunteer Jeff Cole investigated the old dray and decided it would be a great project for volunteers to take on as a project in an undercover area where the public could watch the progress. Room is being made in the old Amess Barn, where Jeff previously demonstrated cart wheel making, which was extremely popular. Churchill Island is such a lovely spot to bring the children during the holidays - lots of running around space and no cars to worry about! Also friendly farm animals and activities of course. And on Fridays FOCIS volunteers are often there doing all sorts of tasks and chatting to visitors. FOCIS secretary Leah and her husband pop over some Fridays, and Leah took this photo of the old Amess Barn with some school holiday visitors enjoying the area. Amess Barn was originally a Cobb & Co coach house on the Mornington Peninsula, and was acquired by Amess for Churchill Island about 1880. ... See MoreSee Less
