Our Friends of Churchill Island Society (FOCIS) General Meeting last Saturday finished on a high with a certificate of appreciation being given to our amazing treasurer of almost 10 years, Tom O'Dea. Tom and his wife Ruth are pictured here with FOCIS president Graeme Clauscen (left). Our appreciation definitely extends to Tom's 'team member', Ruth O'Dea! Tom has gone above and beyond his very efficient and thorough treasurer and membership secretary's roles in many ways including working hard to secure tax deductibility for donations to FOCIS, revising our constitution, maintaining our website, preparing discussion papers for FOCIS committee and members to ensure informed decisions, handling book orders and inventory and many others. Tom and Ruth have been frequent participants in FOCIS working bees, paying their own overnight accommodation to do so - and even provided home-made chocolates for one morning tea! Our thanks to Phillip Island Nature Parks for allowing us to use the Nobbies function room (with its spectacular view!) and providing i.t. for our secretary Leah, and a scrumptious afternoon tea for our members.
