The 'forest' at Fisher's Wetlands makes a lovely entry to Churchill Island, immediately taking visitors away from the business of urban living. This forest was planted mainly by children in 1988 - the Australian bicentennial year - with the help of FOCIS. It is home to many marsupials, reptiles, birds and insects. A walk goes from a small car park at the plaque, unveiled by the Governor General of the time, Sir Ninian Stephens and winds through the forest, the wetlands and the bridge, from where you can proceed to the walking track around Churchill Island. Beautiful! Photos show the plaque and its location and parts of the forest. ... See MoreSee Less

Churchill Island's beautiful 'boys' enjoying the trees and space in what used to be the sheep dog demonstration area. Max the bay stallion with the incredibly long mane and forelock, and Sid our versatile black gelding who just can't grow a tail! They both have wonderful temperaments and we are so lucky to have them. ... See MoreSee Less

Dolly is a 5 year old miniature pig that lives in a sheltered, wooden fenced yard on Churchill Island near Amess Barn, and just loves being patted by crowds of visitors. She is very vocal, grunting and squealing a greeting to the volunteers she knows so well - especially Jan, Simon and Jeff. Next time you're visiting, give Dolly a scratch behind the ears - as long as she's not sleeping! Here she is having a snooze in the sun and being visited by some chooks. ... See MoreSee Less
